PROJECT
Aquarena - East Roof Replacement
LOCATION
St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
OWNER
Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
DESCRIPTION
Demolition of existing roof down to existing cedar deck planks and replacement with a similar roof system. As can be seen from the photos, this roof is very large and steep. The primary challenge apart from schedule was to do the job safely. Individual work positioning systems (variation of a fall arrest system) had to be created which anchored each individual worker to concrete buttress piers on the opposite side of the building. Ropes and rope grabs were attached to an aircraft cable anchor at the peak.
